Appeal as church thrift shop shuts its doors

AN appeal has been launched to try to find a new premises for a Leven thrift shop.

The shop, which is currently based at St Peter’s Church on the town’s Durie Street, is having to move due to the Grade B listed church, originally built in 1921, closing at the end of this month.

Area councillor Arthur Robertson told the Mail that he was supporting efforts to have the shop, which remains popular amongst local people, relocated.

He said: “If anybody knows of or has a similar sort of premises then we’d like to hear from them.

“There are a lot of local voluntary organisations use the shop as it’s a good fundraiser and it’s also well attended by people from the area.”

If anybody can help or is able to offer a new premises, they are asked to call 01592 714589.
