Appeal for thrift shop premises
Councillor John O'Brien
LEVEN’S thrift shop is on the lookout for new premises.
The well-used shop is currently based at the Salvation Army Hall in the town but there is concern that trading may have to cease after organisers were given notice to quit.
Area councillor John O’Brien is leading calls for anyone who can offer a new base to come forward.
Cllr O’Brien said: “I’m worried for the people of Levenmouth, who rely on the thrift shop for clothes, shoes, books, DVDs and all sorts of everyday things.
“These are people from the unemployed and poorer communities; residents who have very little money to shop in the more uptrend shops in our high streets.
“As a Levenmouth councillor can I ask if there are any church halls or buildings who would be willing to let to the thrift shop to operate on a weekly basis.”
If you reckon you can help to provide a premises for the thrift shop, please call Cllr O’Brien on 07718115504.
