AN AMBITIOUS project to turn Ladybank’s former stationmaster’s house into a hub for local artists and community groups is now well on track.

North east Fife MP Sir Menzies Campbell officially opened the ‘Off The Rails Arthouse’ at Ladybank Station recently.

The project is the result of a major transformation carried out under Scotrail’s ‘Adopt a Station’ scheme. It also received funding from Fife Council and the Railway Heritage Trust.

WORKSHOPS

The group have created a flexible suite of rooms that can be used for workshops, masterclasses, meetings, exhibitions, and even pop-up shops.

Commenting on the group’s achievement Sir Menzies said: “It was my great pleasure to open the ‘Off the Rails Arthouse’ in Ladybank.

“ It is a remarkable facility that will add a great deal to the north east Fife community. I encourage all residents to get involved in the many classes and events the Arthouse is offering.”

Howe of Fife and Tay Coast Councillor Donald Lothian was also at the opening and congratulated the group on the work they have done.

He said: “This is a terrific development. Ladybank has a proud railway heritage and the goal is to redevelop the whole railway station and surrounding area”.

REDEVELOPMENT

“The Arthouse in itself is a great asset for the area and will provide access, primarily for the visual arts, but also other art forms as well. The Arthouse also forms part of the redevelopment of the platform buildings which includes a number of redundant buildings”.

“Furthermore the Ladybank Development Trust is looking to redevelop the Laird’s Waiting Room building on the south bound platform as well as providing additional parking and disabled access for both platforms. It is full steam ahead and well done to all involved”.
