A plucky pupil from Kennoway primary school is proving she has the zest and determination to go the distance for charity .
Despite being only seven years old, Ava Frail is training to run a distance of five kilometres at the Colour-Me-Rad event in Edinburgh on Sunday.
What’s more, the gutsy youngster is using the challenge to raise cash for the Make-A-Wish Foundation - a charity which helps ill children realise their lifetime’s wish.
Ava’s mum, Gemma - who took up running herself a couple of years ago - explained: “She loves running and recently took part in a junior 1.5k race at the Edinburgh marathon.
“Running is something that we love to do together and we go out training regularly - as soon as I can manage to drag her off the couch!”
Ava, who also likes gymnastics and Tai Kwon Do, is quite sporty but has never tackled an event like Colour Me Rad.
Runners start the circuit at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston wearing a pristine white outfit.
Gemma (31) said: “As they reach different stages of the run the organisers blast coloured powder at them - it’s psychadelic.
“It’s meant to be the happiest 5k run on the planet and Ava certainly enjoys the fun of just running.
“Saying that, she recently bet £1 that she would beat a previous time!”
