Barry will never be forgotten

Burntisland murder victim Barry McLean

Burntisland murder victim Barry McLean

family and friends of murdered Burntisland man Barry McLean are set to hold a memorial evening in his memory next week.

A special get together has been planned at his graveside in Burntisland cemetery at 6.30 p.m. on Monday, exactly a year on from the day the 27-year-old father of one died following an incident at a block of flats in the town.

And dozens of the popular Fife Council electrician’s family and friends are expected to attend the event, organised by his partner Jennifer and other friends. Among them will be Barry’s mum and dad Tina and Alan, younger brother Craig and sister Lisa, as well as his 21-month-old son Connor, who was only nine months old when his dad died.

It will include a one minute’s silence and the release of Chinese lanterns and balloons, while roses will given out to all the women attending the ceremony, to be laid on his grave.

“Barry was such a well-loved and popular man that people felt they wanted to do something special to remember him,” said dad Alan, who is still grieving for his eldest son. “Not a day goes by that we don’t remember him.

“My wife and I go up to his grave every Sunday and not a week goes by without someone laying flowers or leaving a card or letter for him. We have even had to put in extra flower vases.”

All friends of Barry’s are welcome to attend.
