Beachgoers invited to take part in survey
AS the summer finally shows its head, those heading to one of the areas beaches are being urged to report jelly fish sightings.
The request has come from the Marine Conservation Society which is running a national survey after sightings dropped.
Levels of jellyfish are considered a marker of how healthy the sea is.
MCS Biodiversity Programme Manager, Dr Peter Richardson, said: “The incessant rain has meant there have been fewer people out on the beaches or at sea to spot them.
“The unusual meteorological conditions brought about changes to the jet stream which may have also affected jellyfish lifecycles at sea, although at this stage we cannot be sure.”
