The area’s best-known athletics acolytes are teaming up next weekend to raise money for some ‘relay’ good causes.
Around 40 members of East Neuk running club the Anster Haddies are tackling a two-bridge challenge on Sunday, June 1, in support of a range of charities.
The enthusiasts will be running a relay from Dundee to South Queensferry via the Fife Coastal Path, covering approximately 85 miles.
The charities they aim to help include the Christie Cancer Hospice, Fife Young Carers, the International Fire and Rescue Association, East Neuk First Responders and PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy).
The athletes welcome any donations and have alreay had some sponsorship from local businesses.
The runners will be tackling the route in 19 sections, covering an average of just over four miles, with up to half a dozen athletes taking part in each leg.
They’ll be leaving from Dundee around 7.00 a.m. with an expected finish in South Queensferry around 8.00 p.m. There will be a group crossing of the Forth Bridge to celebrate the finish. The Haddies are also looking ahead to their 25th anniversary this year.
