Cambo unveils its latest exhibition

A stunning new exhibition organised by the Cambo Institute on the Cambo Estate, near Kingsbarns, has been unveiled.
An added feature is a series of art workshops for both adults and youngsters, including stone carving, ceramics and bookmaking.
The workshop programme was opened by artist Susan Forsyth, who created an outdoor studio for children aged between seven and 12 years to give a taster to the initiative.
The exhibition in the Cambo Stables - it will run until August 26 and is open daily from 10am to 5pm - has been curated by the seven-strong Heartwood Artist group, who have invited several of their friends to take part.
Lady Catherine Erskine, of Cambo Estate, said:”The Cambo Institute is very excited to be working with Heartwood Artists, who have created such exciting work in response to the beautiful Georgian stables due for restoration in 2013.
“Several of the group have contributed work to our Snowdrops by Starlight in the past two years and we are delighted to be working in partnership with them again.”
The original central stalls of the stables were built in the 1760s, but have long since fallen into disuse. At present, the spaces are in a state of transition with plans for a new visitor centre and the artists are in particular attracted to the atmosphere and there is still enough in the stables remaining untouched to give a rich sense of the past.

Diana Sykes, director of Fife Contemporary Art and Craft in St Andrews, said:”In addressing the challenge of the exhibition, the artists demonstrate the variety of ideas and materials they bring to exploring a subject and creating something new.”
