Campaigners and councillors to meet
Kirkcaldy High Street
a MEETING to discuss future parking in Kirkcaldy’s pedestrian zone has been organised for next week.
Campaigners calling for more time for blue badge holders to be allowed to park their vehicles in the area are set to meet with some of Kirkcaldy’s councillors next Wednesday (April 11), in the Town House to discuss their concerns.
At last month’s Kirkcaldy Area Committee councillors voted unanimously to ban vehicles, including residents and delivery drivers as well as those with mobility problems, between the hours of 10.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. every day in the interest of public safety.
Recommendation
This went against the recommendation of Fife Disability Network which had asked for three hours on a Monday morning, all day Wednesday and three hours on a Thursday afternoon for disabled parking.
And last week a public notice announcement was put in the Press outlining changes to the Traffic Regulation Order for the area, and giving objectors three weeks to put their grievances in writing to the Council.

Campaigners held a meeting last Wednesday to plan the way forward, and members of the new group, Access for All, were on the High Street on Tuesday giving out letters to people who wanted to object to the proposed changes to the Traffic Regulation Order to send to the Council.
Margaret Dumbreck, one of the members, said: “We are looking forward to meeting with some of the councillors, who we believe have not been given the correct information, to explain our position and try to come up with something suitable to everyone before these changes are implemented.”
