Cellardyke house video a hit online

Iain Rooney of Pittenweem Pharmacy has made a quirky video to try and sell his cellardyke house.

A COUPLE from Cellardyke have taken a novel approach to selling their home by releasing a fun and quirky music video urging people to buy their house.

Iain Rooney, manager of Pittenweem Pharmacy, and his wife Lisa Rooney, a primary school teacher, have been struggling to sell their home on the village’s George Street for the past 12 months.

With a new house already bought in Pittenweem for the family, which includes 14-month old son Danny and dogs Brulee and Bakewell, Mr Rooney decided to take matters into his own hands and wrote the song before uploading it to YouTube, complete with pictures of the house and Rooney life.

Featuring lines such as “The wallpaper might make you go ‘wowzers’ but there is quite a lot of room for storing your trousers”, it’s clear the couple aren’t taking it too seriously, but Mr Rooney, who was behind the Pittenweem Pharmacy charity Christmas song last year, has at least attracted a lot of interest online.

“We have a lot of people sharing the Facebook link and re-tweeting it,” he said.

“We just wanted to do something to get noticed. A bit of a gimmick.

“At the moment, I suspect we have not hit our target market but eventually I think someone will see it.

“It’s not actually brought any more viewers but a company which specialises in making bespoke videos for people selling their house have offered to make us a free video.”

You can view the video by searching “House For Sale (Cellardyke)” in YouTube, where there is also a link to buy the two-minute track, with all proceeds going to Shelter Scotland.
