Burntisland school plans

AN invitation is being extended to residents in Burntisland to see for themselves Fife Council’s proposals for the new Burntisland Primary School on East Toll Park.

A public engagement event will be held on May 31 at Burntisland Library from 10.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. where the local community and any other interested parties will be able to see maps, diagrams and artists impressions of how the school could look.

The decision on where to build the new facility has caused heated debate among residents in the town over the last few years.

Alister Hendrie, education delivery manager with Fife Council, said: “We have produced these visuals because we really want the people of Burntisland to have accurate information about what is being proposed.

Information

“In order for them to do that, they need to have as much information as possible.

“We received a lot of feedback during our consultation period and we have taken many of those comments on board at this stage in the planning process

“Fife Council has now submitted an application for planning in principle for a new school to be built on East Toll Park.

“While detailed plans have yet to be prepared we now know the likely footprint of the school. This shows where the school would sit within the park and what space it would take up.

Illustrate

“A series of display boards with outline drawings, plans and photomontages will illustrate how the school is likely to look in East Toll Park and Fife Council staff will be on hand to show people round and answer any questions.

“So if you want to know more about our plans, please look in to our open day and see for yourself.”
