A St Andrews ice cream shop found itself in the spotlight twice recently, first with a visiting celebrity and then when it unveiled a special Commonwealth cone.
Much-loved Scottish comedian and actor Elaine C. Smith popped into Jannettas with St Andrews born actor Paul Samson to film a segment for a forthcoming STV series about seaside destinations.
Jannettas owners Nicola and Owen Hazel will feature in the programme, ‘Bird’s Eye View’.
The programme follows Elaine around Scotland to different destinations including Anstruther, Rothesay, Port Patrick and Arbroath.
Meanwhile this week, the gelateria also served up its first Commonwealth cone to local athlete Graham Bennison (67), well known for his coaching, who was taking part in yesterday’s (Thursday’s) baton relay.
The Commonwealth creation combines blackberry sorbet (red), vanilla (white) and blueberry (blue) and will be available until Sunday.
Owen said, ““The Queen’s Baton Relay arriving in St Andrews is an exciting event for the town and we thought it would be fitting to create a delicious Commonwealth cone, not only to mark the day itself but the significance of the games themselves which are guaranteed to enthral communities throughout Scotland and further afield.”
