Councillor keen for public to be kept up to date with works
One of the biggest road construction projects in Kirkcaldy is well underway.
Local councillor Neil Crooks is keen for the public to be kept informed as the development at Chapel Level continues.
He said: “Not only are the Council dualling the Chapel Level from Fair Isle Road to Dunnikier Estate, the Mosque is underway behind Cumbrae Terrace and a new link road to re-align Hendry Road to the new roundabout serving Dunnikier estate is falling into place all at the same time.
“It is important effective communication can be maintained during this major upheaval and Paula Napier, Fife Council’s site contact, has set up an e-mail link (chapelleveldualling@gmail.com) which will allow direct representation on any related issue.”
Cllr Crooks added: “Works so far have included construction of the two new embankments through Capshard Wood and the re-aligned Hendry Road. Works to kerb and surface these new links to the roundabout will take place over the next few weeks.
“The mineral protection works (drilling and grouting old mine workings) near Tiree Place will finish this week with that plant and compound being cleared over the next fortnight.
“Contractors are beginning to excavate the road foundation for the section of widened carriageway along Chapel Level and will be closing Tiree Place to allow these works to continue once the grouting sub-contractor has left that area.
“Works at Wester Bogie Roundabout near Sainsbury are ongoing and are expected to be complete by the first week in September.”
