FIFE Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic crash which happened at mid-day today (Monday, June 18) on the A92 near Ladybank just north of Freuchie.

A 40-year-old man driving a green Peugeot 206 was seriously injured and was taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, after being airlifted by helicopter from the scene of the head-on crash with a grey Land Rover Discovery. A man and a woman in that vehicle suffered minor injuries and were taken by road ambulance to the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

Inspector David McKelvie, of the force’s Road Policing Unit, said: “I would appeal for anyone who saw either of these vehicles in the vicinity of Ladybank, Kettlebridge, Eden Bridge or Freuchie around noon today, particularly drivers on the A92.”

The road will be closed for several hours and local diversions are in place.
