Cupar people to be inspired by Olympics
The London 2012 Olympic Torch.
CUPARIANS will have the chance to be inspired by the London Olympics next week.
Wednesday, May 16, is UK Inspire Day and an exhibition is being held in the Corn Exchange to showcase community projects across the country that have been sparked by the Games.
That’s because the Inspire-Aspire scheme — the UK’s biggest London 2012 education programme — is being run from Cupar.
The exhibition will be held from 10am to 4pm.
Gemma Clark, the programme’s co-ordinator, said: “I think people will be really surprised to learn that a small team of people from Cupar have played such a key role in making the most of the educational opportunities presented by having the Olympics in the UK.
“I would encourage everyone from the community to come along and see what we are doing.
“It is really impressive and, more importantly, it’s a chance to be inspired and learn something new.”
Seb Coe, chair of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, added: “UK Inspire Day is a celebration of the Inspire programme and exceptional projects like Inspire-Aspire whose events and celebrations will bring the UK to life.”
