EXCITEMENT is mounting in the Cupar area with just a week to go until the neighbourhood in line for the lion’s share of a whopping £2 million Postcode Lottery payout is revealed.

The KY15 5 postcode area - which takes in outlying villages as well as Cupar itself - has scooped the jackpot in the latest Summer Postcode Millions draw and all People’s Postcode players in the area are to receive a cash prize.

But the winning street is to be kept a closely-guarded secret until Saturday, July 21, when a party is held in the town‘s Corn Exchange and the last two letters of the lucky postcode will be revealed.

Winners are currently being contacted by the People’s Postcode Lottery team and are invited to bring up to three guests along to the event.

Registration opens at noon and entertainment will be provided by the X-Factor’s Danyl Johnson before the big moment.

Danyl commented: “Congratulations to all of the winning People’s Postcode Lottery players in Cupar!

“What a brilliant way to celebrate the summer.

“I am looking forward to performing at the winners’ event next Saturday, and I’m excited to find out what the full winning postcode will be. Good luck to all the players!”

Nicole Allan, events manager at People’s Postcode Lottery, said: “The Corn Exchange is right in the heart of the town and we think that the winners will have an amazing time.

“There’s no nicer way to find out how much you’ve won than right on your doorstep.”

This is the second time in six months that a KY postcode area has won a Postcode Lottery jackpot.

Last Christmas Cowdenbeath scooped £1 million in the People’s Postcode Lottery Christmas Millions, which was shared out between 226 winners.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Scott Quinnell said: “I’m thrilled to see another Fife postcode win such a huge amount of money.

“Everyone playing in the KY15 5 postcode area will walk away with a cheque from our Postcode Millions party on Saturday, July 21 – it’s as simple as that!

“A big congratulations to everyone, and I can’t wait to meet all of the winners.”

The Postcode Millions draw is held four times a year, with the winning postcode area scooping at least £1 million.

To date, the People’s Postcode Lottery has raised over £9.1 million for good causes, including the Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres in Kirkcaldy and Dundee.

The Fife Diet and the Ecology Centre in Kinghorn and Fife Diet are among more than 30 charities and good causes in the KY area that have also benefited from lottery grants totalling more than £130,000.
