CUPAR’S skyline has had a summer spruce-up thanks to the efforts of Fife Council.

Staff using a cherrypicker have been working in the Bonnygate, Crossgate and Millgate areas of the town on Sundays throughout June and July removing greenery from guttering and checking the roofs of various properties.

The operation has been welcomed by Cupar councillor Margaret Kennedy, who said: “I was delighted that officers came forward with a repeat of this very worthwhile process.

“A great deal of difference was achieved on the previous occasion.

“I was pleased to hear that this occasion has once again enabled a clearance of the visible greenery and indeed removal of chimney pots causing concern.

“Officers will be reporting back with the full results of their works.”

Councillor Kennedy continued: “I recognise that works to our properties always cost money - however I would hope that the owners will recognise the importance of early interventions to prevent significant works in the future.

“Our town centre is historic in terms of its layout and appearance therefore we collectively need to do our part to maintain it.”
