Jubilant members of the dance troupe with their trophy

A RECENTLY-formed dance company, headed by St Andrews-based teacher and choreographer, Kayleigh Loftus, is celebrating its first competition success.

Kayleigh started her own Distinction Dance Troupe last summer and its members have carried off a top award in their first-ever competitive outing.

The troupe (pictured)consists of 15 talented girl dancers, whose ages range from 14 to 24 years. Based in the university town, they perform at shows in and around St Andrews.

Their performances vary in style from hip-hop and jazz, to lyrical and musical theatre, only a few routines in their wide ranging repertoire.

Distinction took part in their inaugural contest at Dundee’s Caird Hall and came away with a fantastic first place in the over-18s advanced hip-hop category.
