THE SOUNDS and spirit of a legendary Kirkcaldy disco were successfully recreated for one night only - giving our Maggie’s Centre a £2381 cash boost.

On Friday, Society staged a reunion for clubbers of Jackie O, which was formerly based on the Esplanade, and the proceeds of the charity party are going to our cancer caring centre in the town.

Leigh Snowdon, events manager at Society, said it was a big success. She said: “It was like a busy Saturday night and we had a few people who dressed up in retro gear. Our bar staff also took part by wearing white shirts and dickie bows! The reunion was mainly attended by people in their late 30s and upwards, basically the people who went to Jackie O back in the day. We were able to raise £381 through our collection buckets and auction and Society has donated £2000.”

Leigh said they were given a Raith Rovers strip from the early 1990s - featuring the Jackie O name as the town nightspot was the club sponsor at the time - to auction at the event and this contributed £200 towards the total.

She added: “We are really pleased the reunion was a success, raising a good amount of money for Maggie’s.”
