NORTH east Fife MP Sir Menzies Campbell has welcomed the deal that will see the Post Office continue to provide tax disc and driving licence services.

People will be able to tax their cars and apply for or renew driving licences at the Post Office for at least seven more years in an agreement struck with the DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency).

Sir Menzies told the Mail: “This is great news for post offices across Fife and for the people who use them.

“The deal with the DVLA, along with the coalition’s Government commitment to invest £1billion in the Post Office network, will help provide a more viable future for post offices, some of which have struggled over recent years and faced closure.

“Customers trust and rely upon their local post offices.

“With deals like this, the Post Office network is retaining relevance in the modern world and, as such, is securing its future.”
