Two East Wemyss residents are hoping their new village business venture will be to everyone’s tastes - and a great success.
Jeanette Brown and John Bernard - who has lived in East Wemyss all of his life - opened their new coffee shop, ‘The Village Coffee Shop’ on Saturday in the former car shed on Main Road.
Noticing a gap in the market for cafes and coffee houses in the local area, Jeanette and John were keen to open up something for the whole village and surrounding communities.
“We’d been speaking about this for some time, and when the premises came up, we just went for it,” said Janette, who has lived in the village since 2007.
“We thought the village needed something like this for the community, as there’s nowhere really to socialise during the day. We thought it would be a good opportunity to enhance the village.”
The duo hope to serve hot rolls in the morning for people on their way to work, and sandwiches, baguettes and other snacks in the afternoon.
“This won’t just be for East Wemyss,” added Jeanette, “it will be for the communities of all the villages.”
