Elmwood college cuts opening hours
ELMWOOD College is cutting back its opening hours due to fewer people attending leisure classes.
Although its full-time vocational courses continue to be in high demand, the Cupar college confirmed this week that it is to scale back its evening classes.
It says the economic downturn has led to less people attending leisure and hobby-based evening classes.
This will result in the college being closed on Monday and Friday evenings from 6 p.m. and Saturday mornings from Monday, March 8, onwards.
Elmwood's director of external relations, Ken Rutherford, said all colleges have experienced a drop in the uptake of part-time and leisure classes.
"We have taken the decision to close the college on Monday and Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, but plan to maximise learning opportunities on the evenings we are open," he said.
"I would encourage members of the public to explore the option of ILA funding to allow them to continue to access learning to prepare for the economic upturn."
