Exit Gala day proves success
Fun at the Exit Gala.
OVER 500 people visited a Glenrothes community hub’s annual gala at the weekend.
And organisers said the attendance at Saturday’s event demonstrated the ever-increasing popularity of the Exit Centre at the Glamis Centre in Pitteuchar.
The event featured a large variety of entertainments, including stalls, competitions, games and displays by local dance schools.
Sue Claydon, chairman of the management committee, said the local community must be commended for the way in which it has supported the event since it began four years ago.
She added that she hoped its success would encourage people to get involved in the many activities which the centre offers, with an exciting programme planned over the coming months, including a community cafe.
She went on: “My thanks and congratulations must also go to the management committee and the many volunteers who did many hours of hard work not just on the day, but during the weeks preceding the event.
“Events like this just don’t happen. They depend on many people working hard.
“I am also very grateful to the local businesses who donated many prizes for our raffle.
“In addition to the usual stalls, games and races, the highlights of the gala included zumba, zumbatomic and baton twirling workshops, which proved to be very popular, particularly with the younger generation and I hope, having had a taste of these that they will come along and develop their abilities in these activities, which take place every week.
“I am also grateful to the Sarah Hendry School of Dance, Dardas Diamonds Baton Twirlers, Jordan Cooper for his fine piping, Fife Fire and Rescue Service and the Revolution Bus.
“The local support underlines the importance of the centre to the local community, which is something that has been evident for some time, as the daily footfall has been gradually increasing over the past year.
“More local groups are using the centre on a regular basis and more and more people are just dropping into the cafe for tea or coffee or a snack in the cafe.
“The centre will be busier than ever this winter, as we are opening a community cafe on Friday evenings next month.
“The cafe will be open to anyone who wants to drop in to play pool or Wii games or use the Internet.”
