FALKLAND in Bloom’s new community enterprise is ready to deliver the goods!

The initiative will see the organisation send plants, hanging baskets and containers to communities the length and breadth of Fife.

Project worker Suzanne Gilfeather explained: “I think we were all surprised how busy we have been in our first season, with about 600 baskets and troughs nearly ready for delivery.

“It is pleasing to be able to assist other communities throughout Fife, in their efforts to enhance their own communities.

PRIDE

“There is no doubt that floral enhancement greatly increases civic pride in communities that participate in such activities and Falkland in Bloom is using their expertise to help other communities make a difference.”

The community enterprise is separate from the normal, voluntary work of Falkland in Bloom, but there is crossover in activities as preparations are being made for their annual plant sale which takes place tomorrow (Saturday, May 19).

Falkland in Bloom chair, Lee Ryan, said: “The plant sale is vitally important to us as it creates our funding to allow us to provide the baskets and containers throughout Falkland.

“Our volunteers have been working with Suzanne in order to prepare for this important event.

BENEFIT

“The community enterprise side has all been possible as a result of a grant obtained from Leader Fife and groups from Leuchars, St Andrews and Kingsbarns are some of the communities that will benefit from the east area this year.”

Any community from east Fife that is interested in the work of the Falkland in Bloom community enterprise are asked to contact Suzanne on 07563 090421 or by e mail on enquiries@falklandinbloom.com
