Fife leading the way on energy
Electricity pylons.
THE latest release from the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) shows that Fife is the leading region in Scotland for reducing electricity consumption.
Fife consumed 16 per less electricity in 2010 than in 2005 which is the biggest reduction of any local authority area in Scotland.
The reduction is the result of Fife’s businesses reducing their electricity consumption by 21 per cent.
Fife’s households have also reduced their electricity consumption by 8 per cent which is the same reduction achieved nationally.
Robin Presswood, senior manager at Fife Council said: “Reduced electricity consumption moderates the increasing cost of businesses’ and residents’ energy bills whilst carbon emissions will be lower which helps tackle climate change.”
