Fife schools are top of the class

SCHOOLS in Fife are performing above the national average, according to the results of recent inspections.
Education Scotland, the national audit body, found 90 per cent of Fife inspections were good, very good or excellent against a national figure of 76 per cent.
Councillor Susan Leslie, chair of the education, social and communities scrutiny committee said: “These are outstanding results and, on behalf of the committee members, I would like to congratulate the teachers, pupils and leadership teams in all our schools who are working hard to continuously improve our childrens’ attainments and performance.
“The inspections provide a very good measure of the quality of education in our schools and the overall picture in Fife is of high-quality learning and teaching.
“We welcome this report and would like to highlight the major improvements that have taken place over the last five years.”
In both primary and secondary schools performance is measured at every level: pupil, class, department, whole-school and authority.
A spokesperson for the local authority’s education service added the inspection report provided evidence that the strategies it has implemented had been successful.
