A woman from Anstruther who pulled a man from a house fire has received a Commendation Certificate from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
Marion Reekie was presented with the award by Assistant Chief Fire Officer Peter Murray at a special ceremony recently.
In April 2013, Marion and her mother returned home to her mother’s house in Cellardyke when she realised a neighbouring house was on fire.
After raising the alarm, Marion checked to see if there was anyone inside. When she saw the male occupant slumped at the end of the hall, she crawled in, and with help from her mother, was able to pull the man to safety.
During the ceremony at Kirkcaldy’s Town House, firefighter Jason Cini was also recognised for his actions when a biker sustained horrific injuries after a crash, while eight other firefighters received the Her Majesty the Queen’s Fire Brigade Long Service and Good Conduct Medal from Lieutenant Mrs Margaret Dean, including Watch Manager Alan Fortune, Red Watch, Methil.
