Anstruther’s famous Fish Bar has been nominated for another award.
The immensely popular fish and chip shop has been named in the Takeaway of the Year category of the inaugural Food Awards Scotland, voted for by the public.
Over the years the Fish Bar has won dozens of awards for its food, being named UK fish and chip of the year in 2008/09 and earlier this year recognised in Visit Scotland’s Taste the Best awards.
The shop is owned by Robert and Alison Smith, and Alison said this week that they were thrilled to have been named in the awards, especially since they are nominated by the public.
“All the staff were blown away by the nomination,” she said, “and we are all really chuffed.
“These awards showcase some of the best food producers in the country and highlight the excellent quality we can all be proud of in Scotland.”
The Food Awards recognise the efforts of Scotland’s restaurants, takeaways, pubs, hotels, cafes and bistros, and shine the spotlight on the best local producers.
The awards will be announced next week at a glittering ceremony in Glasgow which will also help raise funds for the charity, Make A Wish Foundation UK.
