Glenrothes: man arrested as part of international drugs investigation
Officers from the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency (SCDEA) have arrested a man, aged 28, for offences in relation to the supply of controlled drugs.
SCDEA officers, working in conjunction with colleagues from Fife Constabulary and acting on information from colleagues at the American Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), conducted a search at a house in Glenrothes, Fife. They recovered a large quantity of class ‘A’ controlled drugs under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 with a value in excess of £20,000.
The investigation centres around an on-line narcotics market place ‘The Farmers Market’ currently being investigated by American authorities.
The man has been held in custody and is due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sherriff Court on 18 April 2012.
Detective Chief Superintendent Tony Mole, Head of Investigations, SCDEA said: “Seizing illegal drugs and targeting drug dealers remain to be priority areas for the SCDEA.
“This is part of an international investigation spanning 34 countries and we will continue to support our law enforcement partners both nationally and internationally to bring those responsible for this evil trade to justice.
“Our message to those involved in the distribution and supply of illegal drugs is clear. It doesn’t matter where you operate or where you try to hide. We will track you down and we will make you pay for your crimes.”
