Plans for a big hogmanay bash at Bayview Stadium have been warmly welcomed by several members of the local community.

Many readers of the East Fife Mail got in touch to express their excitement about the event, with several of them calling it a ‘fantastic’ idea.

Lee Murray, owner of East Fife Football Club, revealed his plans to the Mail two weeks ago and said, since the story broke, he’s had a good response from the locals.

He said: “(The) feedback has been very positive.

“I’m working on headline acts and hopefully will have something in the bag in the next week and we can move it on.”

Mr Murray has already been in talks with bands Big Country and The View about appearing at the Hogmanay event, which would have capacity for over 3000 people.

Many of the details are still to be finalised, such as ticket prices and other acts, but this positive response means plans can now be put in place.

Mr Murray is also hoping the event can be a platform for local bands and performers, with entertainment and a marquee on the night.
