THE Byre Theatre in St Andrews has struck Olympic gold with the ‘Inside Out’ festival which begins tomorrow (Friday) and runs until Sunday.

The famous venue’s popular street theatre and outdoor performance festival is the only Scottish date on tours by Cultural Olympiad-supported productions: ‘Trolleys,’ and ‘Dear Lido’, exciting contemporary shows which have been performing in London as the capital prepares for the London 2012 Olympics.

‘Inside Out’ is also the first Scottish date on the UK tour of celebrated London company Avant Garde Dance’s hilarious fusion of traditional street theatre and dance about a London taxi which headlines the festival.

‘Taxi!’ producer Ruby Baker of Remarkable Productions, said she can’t wait to see how the iconic black cab, with all its London connotations, will translate for Scottish audiences She said: “We take references from wherever we are performing. You never know what local props might be involved!

Ruby added: “Our assistant director Sara Gordon is from Fife and is looking forward to going back to her roots for the show, which we are taking to Edinburgh Mela, the festival of world music, dance fashion and food, in September.”

High-energy dance production: ‘Trolleys,’ from Shaun Parker in collaboration with London’s C-12 Dance Theatre, will change forever your perception of those wire supermarket shopping accessories. Producer Adam Towndrow who is creative director C-12 Dance Theatre believes ‘Trolleys’ should fit well with everything being performed at ‘Inside Out’ this year.
