Visitors to one of Fife’s most popular beaches will benefit from some fresh investment in the run up to summer.
Fife Coast and Countryside Trust (FCCT), which manages and maintains Aberdour Silver Sands beach, is investing £5000 for additional staff, training and safety materials following a cash injection from Fife Council.
A dedicated beach patrol officer will now be on site during the day from April to October, to add to the two lifeguards in the summer months. They, along with other staff on site, will be responsible for reminding visitors to be careful in the water and to watch out for soft sand at low tide.
New signage, posters, information cards, flags and public rescue equipment units are also included as part of the additional safety measures.
Robbie Blyth, from FCCT, said: “Silver Sands is an incredibly popular beach and we want everyone to enjoy their visit. Part of that is being safe and with this latest investment we want to increase visitors’ awareness of safety considerations and their responsibilities.”
