It’s snowing ... for one lucky family in town

A Kirkcaldy family took no chances on being able to enjoy a white Christmas – by having tonnes of the white stuff delivered to their home.

With more rain than snow forecast over the festive period, the Kirton family of Oak Tree Square entered a special competition run by Snow Factor at Braehead in Glasgow.

The company made it snow in their garden when it delivered 10 tonnes of fresh snow to the family home on Christmas Eve, ensuring they didn’t have to dream of a white Christmas this year!

Sisters Chelsey-Lee (6), Charlee (4 today) and Summer Kirton (21 months) were the lucky winners of an online competition to win a magical Christmas ‘snow fall’.

The driveway between the family’s garden and their neighbour’s was transformed into a winter wonderland in time for Christmas morning, ensuring the lucky girls could forget the rain and wind and have fun playing in the snow.

Mum Tracy was one of hundreds who entered the ‘Real Santa Call’ competition on Real Radio to win the magical prize.

She said: “We were all absolutely over the moon to have won the snow delivery. Waking up to snow on Christmas morning is something every child dreams of, and to be the only family in Scotland to have it come true is amazing.

“The girls were so excited to be able to build a snowman on Christmas Day, and we’ve had every kid in the area at our door since it got delivered on Christmas Eve! We can’t thank Snow Factor enough for making this year such a special Christmas for us.

“This is the first snow Summer has been out in, but she’s not phased by it at all!”

Chelsea-Lee added: “I think it’s amazing. All our friends are jealous of us and they’ve all been coming across to play in it and have snowball fights. It’s a great Christmas present.”
