Job joy for town Happit workers

LEVEN’S Happit store has been spared after administrators found new buyers for its troubled parent company’s outlets.

Happit became owned by Ellie Louise after the group took over the firm in 2008 following administration.

However, the white knight group itself hit the skids recently and entered the administration process - leaving locals fearing that another High Street store was about to shut up shop for good.

Happit employs five people in Leven town centre, and they received good news this week when it was announced that Liric Limited had agreed to buy 57 stores, including the local branch.

Graham Wild, partner at administrator Zolfo Cooper said: “We are extremely pleased to have confirmed the sale of Ellie Louise to Liric Limited.

“We wish the company and its new owners all the best for the future.”

Clothes store Happit was formed in Dunfermline until it eventually went bust and was taken over by Second Thoughts.

Second Thoughts, which was run by the same family as Ellie Louise, went to the wall in 2008.

The news of the sale will secure 270 jobs across the UK.

Andrew Smith, an advisor who helped secure the deal, added: “The team on both sides were a pleasure to work with.”
