AN EAST Wemyss man will be in the full glare of the spotlight next week when he takes to the catwalk at a top charity fashion show.

Breast cancer and stylish men may seem like polar opposites but John Beardsmore (57), two years after his own treatment, was delighted to take part in the 10th Breast Cancer Care Scotland Fashion Show to highlight it is not only women who are affected by the disease.

John wanted to give something back to the charity because after being diagnosed in 2010, he found great comfort and information on the Breast Cancer Care website.

”When I was feeling at my lowest ebb, there was always someone on hand to help calm my fears and give good practical advice,” John said. “I have always been a bit of a poser, so I think it will be great fun as well as raising the issue of male breast cancer.”

And as John pointed out, being the only man among 19 women was an added bonus.

He has already been fitted for his outfit – a kilt of pink tartan created for the charity – and taken part in a photoshoot, while he will have a couple of rehearsals before the big event, on September 27 at the Raddisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow.
