Kate Adie honoured by St Andrews University

Figures from the worlds of science, journalism, sport and film have been receiving honorary degrees from the University of St Andrews this week.

The former head of MI5, a gold medal-winning Olympic pentathlete and a respected former BBC war reporter have been among those to be honoured during Graduation Week which ends today (Friday).

The university has also honoured three of its own – the Very Rev. Dr Brian Halloran, Honorary Catholic Chaplain, received the University Medal yesterday morning (Thursday) and Emeritus Professors John W Allen and Ian Campbell will receive honorary doctorates - in science and medicine respectively - this morning.

The ceremonies in the Younger Hall, North Street, saw author and broadcaster Kate Adie become an honorary doctor of laws (LLD) on Tuesday morning.
