Kirkcaldy town centre hit by burst water pipe
workers at Graham Construction hit a main water pipe
A NUMBER of properties in the town experienced problems with their water supply on Friday afternoon after construction workers at the new Kirkcaldy Leisure Centre hit a main pipe.
Scottish Water were notified and sent a squad to the site at Tolbooth Street to carry out the necessary repairs.
Kirkcaldy4All contacted businesses in the area to make them aware of the situation and to let owners know it had been in contact with Graham Construction which was hoping to speak to the firms affected.
A spokesman for Scottish Water said it had received around half a dozen calls from customers in the town reporting an interruption to their water supply.
He said: “The burst water mains occurred at around lunchtime, affecting customers in the town centre and Links area. A Scottish Water squad quickly attended to minimise disruption and restore services as quickly as possible. The majority of residential customers in the Links area were reconnected at around 3.00 p.m. We are working to reconnect some retail premises in the town centre.”
A spokesman for Graham Construction added: “A water main was struck during excavations at lunchtime on Friday. Water supplies were restored to the majority of affected users within three hours and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
