Language inquiry welcomed by MSP
Rod Campbell MSP
THE launch of the Scottish Parliament’s inquiry into the teaching of languages in primary schools has been welcomed.
The inquiry will see the parliament’s European and External Relations Committee scrutinise the Scottish Government’s recommendation that children should start learning a second language from Primary 1, and a third language by Primary 5.
Speaking about the inquiry, European and External Relations Committee member, area MSP Roderick Campbell said: “The Scottish Government’s recommendation on the teaching of foreign languages is one that could have a profound effect on generations of Scotland’s young people.
The inquiry is scheduled to visit north east Fife in February of 2013, with two schools having been selected to take part.
