Local businesses chip in for Guardridge school’s new playground

Guardbridge Primary School Playground Garden has been officially opened.
Doing the honours last Thursday were Dave and Linda Skene, former owners of Dali’s Fish and Chip shop, and Liz Speed of Something Different. Their generous donations funded the purchase of a wooden gazebo, slabs and materials for raised planters.
The garden site had originally been the location of the school’s gym hut which was removed in April following refurbishment and extension of the main school building by Fife Council.
Wood salvaged from the old hut was also used to build additional planters for the playground and the new garden was further enhanced with plants and red stone chips generously donated by Bridgend Garden Centre and Breedon Aggregates at Balmullo Quarry respectively.
INSTALLATION
All the building, installation, planting and painting was carried out by staff, parents, volunteers from RAF Leuchars Community Volunteers Group, friends of the school and the pupils themselves. Headteacher Patsy McKay told the Citizen: “The generosity and support of local businesses has been overwhelming and the hard work of everyone has been brilliant.
‘‘It is heartening to see how much the school is valued and how enthusiastic people are to help improve the facilities and opportunities for the children.
‘‘We are very proud of what has been achieved and say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped make it happen.”
