Nine newborn ducklings are recovering in the Scottish SPCA’s care after falling down a drain.
The animal welfare charity was contacted on Sunday afternoon after a member of the public saw the ducklings running around the B921 road from Kinglassie towards Lochgelly. Sadly, their mother was lying dead on the road.
When Robyn Gray, animal rescue officer, arrived she discovered the ducklings at the bottom of a drain.
Robyn said: “Thankfully it wasn’t too big a drop, around an arm’s length, and the ducklings didn’t seem fazed.
“I had no way of opening the drain myself but I was able to scoop them out using a very thin net.
“Hopefully we’ll be able to release them back into the wild once they are fully fit and able to fend for themselves.”
