Madras hit a high note

The Senior Orchestra

The Senior Orchestra

IT was a busy week for the young musicians of Madras College who attended the annual Fife Festival of Music at the Adam Smith Theatre in Kirkcaldy.

The Senior Wind Band, led by Mrs Ruth Craib, received a Gold Award for its performance of the piece ‘Celtic Ritual’ and ‘Highlights from Ratatouille.’

The Senior String Orchestra competed in the Orchestra class, performing an arrangement of ‘Back to the Future’ and Finale from Dvořák’s “Sonatina, Opus 100,” gaining a Silver Award.

Individual musicians were equally successful; Jamie Macleod won the Premier Trophy for percussion, Hannah Vissochi the Roger Crook Rose Bowl in the Voice class, Ellenor Waddell had success with her Clarsach solo and Anna Hynie received the Nancy Paul Trophy for her piano solo.

The Festival was a fantastic opportunity for the musicians to show off their talents and was greatly enjoyed by all who attended.
