Make a target for archery

A KIRKCALDY archery club is seeking new members.

In the wake of the Paralympics, interest in the sport has risen, and now Kirkcaldy Archery Club, which meets weekly at Kirkcaldy YMCA in Valley Gardens, is looking for anyone, whether able bodied or with disabilities, to come along and give it a try.

The club is led by coach Mike Thomson, a former gold medallist at the sport, who is keen to pass on his talent to others.

Kirkcaldy Archery Club has been on the go for 20 years, but in recent years numbers have dwindled as members move on to different jobs or to university, and now it is looking to boost its membership.

It meets on Tuesday nights from 7.00 p.m. at the YMCA and all equipment is provided, so people can give it a go without having to fork out for expensive equipment.

Mike said: “It’s a fun, informal club where people can come along and get some expert instruction before trying it.

“We are currently only getting around five members along to each session, so it would be good to give our numbers a boost and get some more people along who are interested in trying archery.”

For more information contact Mike on (01592) 654751, or just go along on the night where you will be made welcome.
