A public meeting to update residents on the progress of the Biomass plant at Markinch is to take place later this month.

RWE plant manager Ian Gaunt will give a presentation outlining the current state of commissioning work going on at the plant and general progress regarding production and environmental issues.

Organised by Markinch Community Council, the meeting, which is open to all local residents, is scheduled to take place at 252 memorial hall, Betson Street, Markinch on Monday, June 22 from 7.00 p.m.

Angela High, Markinch Community Council chairman told the Gazette the evening will be a worthwhile event for all those living close to the new £200million plant situated on the site of Tullis Russell paper manufacturers.

“Like previous meetings which have taken place, Ian will deliver a presentation regarding ongoing work at the site and then open up the meeting to the audience for a question and answer session, explained Angela.

The plant was scheduled to switch to full capacity production by May 2014.
