A man has appeared in court on a murder charge, following an incident last week in Methilhill which led to the death of a 17-year-old youth.

Jamie Wishart, aged 22, of Leven, made an appearance at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court last Wednesday.

He faced charges alleging murder, assault, and assault to injury.

The accused made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody, as the case was continued for further examination.

He is due back in court again tomorrow (Thursday).

The appearance followed a disturbance in Methilhill in the early hours of last Tuesday, April 8.

Connor Cleave (17), of Methilhill, was taken to Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital but died shortly afterwards as a result of injuries received in the incident, in Simon Crescent.

Detectives from Police Scotland launched a major investigation, with cordons in and around the street as they made inquiries .

Officers were aware the investigation would cause some disruption to residents, but appealed to householders in Simon Crescent and the surrounding area to be patient while the inquiries were under way.

Messages of sympathy were posted on Facebook for the victim, along with his friends and family.
