FIFE Constabulary has announced the appointment of Jill Harper as Area Chief Inspector for north east Fife, based in Cupar.

Chief Insp. Harper has 20 years’ police service and her most recent post was at the Force Control Centre in Glenrothes.

She had previously specialised in domestic abuse and community safety, working with a variety of partners right across Fife.

Born and bred in Fife, Chief Insp. Harper lives in Kirkcaldy with her partner, Chief Inspector Derek Finnie, and their six-year-old son Callum.

Chief Insp. Finnie was previously Deputy Divisional Commander for north east Fife.

Chief Insp. Harper said: “I am delighted with my new post and will strive to ensure that my officers continue to deliver the high-quality of service, accessible to all those who live in north east Fife.

“I look forward to effective engagement with our communities and partners and to build on the successes of my predecessor John McDonald.”

Chief Superintendent John Pow, Divisional Commander, Communities Policing Division of Fife Constabulary, said: “I congratulate Jill on her new post and look forward to working with her to build on the previous achievements that have led to Fife Constabulary recording the lowest crime and the highest detection rates in its history.

“Everyone across the force is working hard to deliver our vision of taking policing closer to the community.”
