A NEW and challenging activity trail has been installed in the playground of Cardenden Primary School.

Susan Harper, acting headteacher, explained the new build school which opened in August 2011 has provided an ideal learning environment for all its pupils.

Throughout the past year the pupils and school community felt they wanted to improve the playground environment and it was decided to create a new activity trail.

Events

Money for the scheme was raised through a variety of events and the school was successful in securing some lottery funding from Awards for All.

The children were excited watching the installation of equipment and since the new term started, they have been able to use the equipment.

The children have been thrilled with the new equipment saying that some of it is “a real challenge”.

Wobbly

Others have said some parts are easy when they are doing it on their own, but that it gets wobbly when their friends take part too.

Ms Harper said the equipment has been useful in attracting those children who don’t take part in running or ball games to become more active.

She added: “Next year our plan is to add some supplementary pieces of equipment to challenge our children further.”
