WINDYGATES beauty queen Sula Powell has been living the American dream at a pageant across the pond.

The 15-year-old Bell Baxter pupil recently took part in the ‘America’s Perfect’ show in Florida where she competed against 47 others girls in her age group.

Sula was put through her paces at the competition by the judges and asked to impress in categories such as swimwear modelling, fashion and also give an interview.

Ultimately, she finished the pageant in fourth runner up position, much to the joy of her mum Lorraine, who told the Mail: “These competitions are massive in America; they’re almost like a sport.

“But it’s an expensive sport – some of the dresses the girls were wearing cost as much as $15,000.

“Sula made a big impression while she was there and we’ve already had modelling scouts e-mailing us asking her to go back across.”

The teen model was featured in the Mail a few months back when she was one of the lucky few who were chosen to carry the Olympic torch on its route.

The torch accompanied Sula on her journey to the States where it wowed those who saw it, with the aeroplane pilot even giving it pride of place on the journey in his cockpit.

Sula has also been busy studying for her school exams, with the teenager looking to focus her career path on business law.

With Windygates gala returning this weekend, Sula has been invited to attend with her torch, giving those in attendance some of the Olympic feeling.
