Pharmacy’s award is just the tonic!
A CUPAR pharmacist and pharmacy manager is making sure that the future of community health in Scotland is looking fine and healthy.
Alasdair Shearer, who manages Rowlands Pharmacy in Bonnygate, picked up a top gong at the fourth Scottish Pharmacist Awards, held recently in the International Conference Centre, Edinburgh.
Alasdair was presented with the Pharmacist of the Future Award, supported by Pfizer.
The award is made to the individual who has shown to have attained a “broad understanding of issues where the pharmacy profession could make a difference and strived to champion these opportunities”.
“An excellent ambassador of what the profession can offer,” is how the judges described Alasdair’s attitude and commitment.
So far in his short career in pharmacy, Alasdair has accumulated a wealth of experience, achieving a great deal, both in his current role as a pharmacy manager, and from his previous role as an area manager.
He was described by the judges as being dedicated to his patients, passionate about pharmacy and as someone who had a positive impact on others within his profession and across a multidisciplinary healthcare arena.
Commenting on his success, Alasdair said: “It was a fantastic night and I was delighted to get the recognition for what I have done so far. I want to thank the individual staff and the company Rowlands Pharmacy for giving me the opportunity and the support to do all the things I have done, to achieve what I have so far and to develop my career.”
