After years of campaigning by local residents and town leaders, councillors in Levenmouth have approved plans to change the speed limit on a notorious stretch of road in the town.
At Wednesday’s Levenmouth Area Committee meeting, elected members voted unanimously to adjust the speed limit on Kennoway Road from 60 mph to 40 mph.
The vote has been welcomed by local resident Steven Watt. “I’m happy the new limit is being put in place, we’re definitely moving in the right direction. But until something is done about the barriers, and reflective strips are put in place, the new limit will be useless.”
Ian Smith, lead professional in traffic management at Fife Council said a statutory consultation period would now take place to hear any objections.
