Police search for Glenrothes hit-and-run driver

POLICE in Glenrothes are looking for witnesses to a hit and run last week involving a car and a pedal cyclist.

The collision happened last Wednesday (July 25) between 4.20 p.m. and 4.40 p.m. The car was travelling on the Queensway, Glenrothes, where it struck a 56-year-old man cyclist at the pedestrian crossing near to the car park of Morrison’s supermarket.

Police are keen to trace the driver of the car, described as a dark coloured saloon, which did not stop and continued east on the Queensway towards Preston Roundabout. Fortunately, the cyclist was not badly injured.

PC Mhairi Liddell said: “We are keen to trace this car and its driver as it failed to stop after the accident.

“We are looking to speak to anyone who was travelling along the Queensway during this time and saw this car before or during the incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Fife Police on 0845 600 5702 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
